Dan Tomkins is an artist and illustrator based in Adelaide, Australia. Creative service is at the heart of Dan’s practice and he thrives on the connection and challenge of creating work in a collaborative environment. His illustrations appear on a diverse range of projects though he is best known for his work specialising in the wine industry in both Australia and abroad. He has exhibited in solo and group shows and creates commissioned works for homes, public environments and business spaces. Dan’s work is predominately in the disciplines of painting and drawing and he draws inspiration from a myriad of sources. The beauty and fragility of nature features prominently in his work as does capturing moments that reflect the simplicity and quiet, almost hidden depth of daily life. Contemporary culture, art, literature, film and music also provide Dan with an endless supply of ideas and subjects to play with. When he’s not busy with client projects he thoroughly enjoys time in the studio to explore ideas and personal projects. This two-way dynamic provides balance in his work as one aspect informs the other and allows Dan to create strong and engaging visual solutions for his clients while continuing his own artistic practice.
